About The Owners
Dane and Elizabeth Ferguson lived in their Grand Forks, ND home for nine years, Bismarck/Mandan, ND for 4 years, and now Horace, ND working at their recently opened West Fargo location! Both Concordia College graduates of Moorhead, MN, they share the love of the written word, art of films, and creativity of toys. Elizabeth, a former full-time elementary school teacher in Grand Forks and Crookston, MN, and Dane, an entrepreneur, wanted to share their passions with North Dakota beyond! After noticing there was a great void of services of books, creative toys, and media in the area, they came up with an idea together with the help of Dane's brother Taylor, a business to serve the community was the result. In their free-time, the Fergusons love to watch their boys play sports, track & football, and go to UND and Minnesota Vikings games.

Robert Sutton, or just "Bob" has been a fixture in Ferguson Books-Grand Forks since, well, inception. Bob is the victim of mission creep in the most positive way. Beginning as a customer, volunteer, part-time associate, and now as a part-owner, Bob's passion for books are as deep as the Red River in Canada! Former Air-Force Bob has collected books while he lived in Oregon, England, and since the early 1990s Grand Forks, which he calls home. The Fergusons are glad to have him as he is to have us to fulfill his lifetime dream of running a bookstore. If he's not organizing the numerous shelves at the store, he's working at his OTHER full-time job as a correctional officer acting as its unofficial jail librarian. Bob has been a pivotal partner in Fergusons past, and will continue to be well into the future-he does plan to live to be 115 years old.
SHOPPING LOCAL MATTERS
Book Trades
Effective immediately, Ferguson Books will allow ONLY 50 BOOKS TOTAL per visit per day for trading in your used books. Due to staffing concerns, anything larger than that, whether it be for trade-in credits or outright donation, need to call in advance for an appointment so we can dedicate the time for the care of your books and ensure the appropriate staff is on hand to serve your needs better. We appreciate your understanding in this matter.

General Book Trade Guidelines
1) We will take in any book, DVD/BLURAY or CD you bring in LEGALLY. This means that it is yours to give to us and not the property of someone else.
2) Items that we WILL NOT membership Credit for include:
Outdated (Finance, Reference, Health, Self-Help, Diet and textbook)
Damaged Materials (This includes, but is not limited to, Water, Smoke, Oil, Mold, Pet, etc)
Poor Quality Products (This includes tears/scratches, broken spines, missing pages/dust-cover, folded corners, warped, severely bent covers, etc)
Low Grade Small Paperbacks (i.e. Printed before the year 2020, Harlequin Romances, Danielle Steele)
3) Please allow 10-30 minutes for each trade!
Bag Sales & Pop-Up Shops
Ferguson Books needed a way to alleviate its full shelves--even shortly after moving to a store 3 times the size! Almost by accident they tried something called a "bag sale" and allowed customers to check out their backstock of overstocked used books. It was so popular, Ferguson's did the event regularly throughout the year.
In 2018 Ferguson Books wanted to see if this Bag Sale would be popular outside of Grand Forks, trying out the larger city to the south--Fargo. It went gangbusters! We now bring along with us best-sellers, toys, and much more!
Since then, Ferguson's have brought their 2-day pop-up shop and Bag Sale all over the Midwest! Check out the cities below:
